They can produce far more light for a given amount of input power than conventional bulbs. Rigid Industries makes the brightest most efficient lights on the market. Our light bars are available in the "E" Series bright white light, or the Amber Series. The Amber LED shines just as far as the regular E-Series LED, but in an amber color to reduce the glare from dust or fog. The Rigid Industries advantage is all in the reflector. Their super efficient reflector uses patented Hybrid Technology, allowing these lights to runs at 93% optical efficiency, which is unmatched in the industry. Each light bar consists of two rows of high intensity LEDs, each sitting in their patented reflector assembly, measuring about 1 inch square. Each LED is independent, so if one LED fails the other LEDs will not and the light bar still works fine. The power efficiency of LEDs is obvious. A high intensity halogen light is typically rated at 100 to 150 watts. This translates to a battery current draw of about 8 to 12 amps per light. A comparable HID light is 35-watt that would draw about 3 amps of current. For similar light output, you could use a 6-inch "E" Series light bar that would only consume about 2 amps of current. LEDs also have high service lifetimes (typically in excess of 10,000 hours). LEDs are much less sensitive to shock and vibration damage, which is especially useful for off-road applications.
